Financial Grants
To maximise the benefits of nursing and midwifery education and
training, and support underprivileged countries GHAWA offers a
range of financial grants to eligible applicants.
The funding available is aimed at education institutions,
non-Government organisations and individual nurses and midwives who
are building their clinical skills and experiences by providing
training and education in a developing country.
Funding support is available to eligible nurses and midwives
deployed by GHAWA. The Western Australian Department of Health's
Nursing and Midwifery Office also provides the following funding
for employees of WA Health:
- International Travel Grant of up to $2,500 for nursing and
midwifery students, and qualified nurses and midwives;
- International Outreach
Fellowships of up to $20,000 to nurses and midwives
undertaking clinical research at an international location;
- Community Service
Leave support of up to two weeks base rate of
pay.
Successful recipients are expected to return to Western Australia
with increased knowledge and clinical skills that can contribute to
the growth and development of their clinical expertise in their
regular working role.
It is envisaged that the international clinical experience
will increase transcultural competence of individuals that may
transpire into a wish to work within rural and remote Western
Australia.
