Tanzania Partnership
GHAWA has established a partnership with two key Health Training
Institutions in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania:
The Advanced Practice Midwifery School
Muhimbili Campus
This institution is government owned and is the only school of
advanced midwifery training in Tanzania. It is located within the
premises of Muhimbili National Hospital. In collaboration with
the Department of Human Resource Development and the Office of the
Chief Nurse at the Tanzanian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare,
support for midwifery education is an agreed GHAWA priortity
area.
Hubert Kairuki Memorial University
This institution was the first private university in Tanzania,
offering Diploma and Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery,
and Doctor of Medicine programs. The institution is co-located with
Mission Mikocheni Hospital.
Through our partnership arrangements, GHAWA aims to support
these institutions by providing education and technical support
from Western Australia's academics and expert nurses and midwives
working with the educators and senior health providers at the
institution and their associated health services. This includes the
use of simulation equipment in skills laboratory.
